Sept. 2012 Letter 14 - October 19th, 1847 Governor Robert Dogwood, I hold a great deal of respect for what you and your venerable family have done for the state of Vermont. However, postmen are refusing to travel the route through Spookinite Valley. They evidently fear encountering highwaymen after the innumerable disappearances of travelers. Perhaps if you could so kindly send a few dozen soldiers to patrol the main road, the postmen would be far less hesitant.
