Letter 12 - October 31st, 1888

Greetings Mr. Moore,

I understand it has been quite some time since I have sent you a letter; but I feel compelled to pick up my pen and write to you about something which disturbs me. You may recall the story you once told about Mr. Mansfield’s Inn. Well, I nearly stayed there a few nights ago; his behavior was as troubling as you described. When I explained I had no interest in staying, he kept insistently holding the door shut, rambling on about some nonsense and laughing. I finally pushed him out of the way and fled to my horse. Perhaps he merely hates vacancy?

My regards,
Taylor Dickinson
