Letter 9 - November 18th, 1898

Sir,

I regret to say that I found nothing of significance at McCormick Hollow. Since my boyhood, I have known that this is where many of Hemlock’s citizens believe some horrid apparition leads travelers astray. But the truth is that these are mere myths. He could have vanished anywhere. The townspeople and I searched for well over a month, and not even a mere shred of clothing could be recovered. At the moment, there is a more pressing problem, as graves are being desecrated to no end at one of the nearby cemeteries. I must end this investigation for now.
