Tobias the Ebon Cat
The black cat commonly seen throughout the valley is often referred to by residents as ‘Tobias.’ Although he carries about with him a sense of domestication, he may also harbor something baleful. With burning golden irises and tenebrous fur, he hides within the shades of the night—ever watchful and silent. This feline is considered to be an ill-omen by many. Travelers have accordingly attributed their tragedies to his grim presence. But perhaps this began with traditional superstitions of misfortune being associated with black cats. Curiously, accounts of Tobias can be read as far back as the late 18th century. You must remain watchful should you notice him lurking nearby.
