Letter 6 - August 17th, 1843

My dearest Abagail,

I sincerely apologize for my delayed reply. The counting house has kept me occupied the past few weeks, and I did not see your letter hidden among the many envelopes that are scattered about my study. How it makes my heart heavy to read your words. Please do not be filled with sorrow, for we shall soon meet again. And yes, Hemlock is a quiet and peaceful town; I know you will grow quite fond of it. However, the townsfolk can be unreasonably superstitious at times. Many fear that the nearby valley is haunted by the most ridiculous apparitions. I believe they keep the legends alive for the sole purpose of frightening away strangers. Yet it seems that their stories only stoke your curiosity!

Love always,
William
