The Night the Lantern Died
Written by Benjamin Fouché

Lonesome radiance wandering through the night;
Touching hearts and souls—from the darkness to light.
The humble glow did reveal the path forward,
Guiding those lost, forgotten, and forlorn toward

An immortal hope that can never truly
Be extinguished from death’s clutches—don’t you see?
But then one night the Lantern’s rays faded fast.
And it seemed that all light would no longer last.

With a final flicker, the glow was no more,
Leaving our spirits alone on some dark shore.
Mourning the loss, we sobbed in the bleak shadows.
Wanting the return of the one who endows

The soft, gentle gleam that made our own journeys
Ones of comfort and ease—granting us the keys.
And yet, when all hope appeared to have passed on,
We realized the Lantern’s light was never gone.

Beneath the twinkling stars in the night skies,
And within the meek lights of the fireflies,
We saw the nocturnal luminosity
Live on through its quaint, undying destiny.
