Letter 75 - May 15th, 1883

To whom this may concern,

I am writing to Hemlock’s Town Library in hopes that I may identify the title and author of a book that escape my recollections. If I am not mistaken, there was a volume of nursery rhymes that could once be found in nearly every household throughout New England. However, since recalling this book, I have been unable to acquire or find a copy of any edition. I remember the words every now and then, which were especially foreboding—perhaps because they were meant to convey cautionary narratives to children. And yet, I doubt my little mind ever learned much—if anything—from their portentous words. If you have any knowledge of this book, I would very much like to know more about it.

My regards,
Waldere Ashcroft
