Letter 74 - October 24th, 1897

My dearest friend,

I may be rendered no choice but to accept your thoughtful invitation. I sleep less each night, and some mornings I find furniture and other household objects in disarray. Fredrick believed I had done it in jest, but when he saw a door open and shut when I was away in town, he has since grown more earnest. I seldom look in mirrors after dusk. But when I gather the courage to do so, I find the visage before me unfamiliar. Fredrick also appears more reluctant to look at his own reflection, though he insists nothing is amiss. Maybe insanity is like a plague, and Warwick’s inmates have spread it throughout the land.

Your loving, and hopefully not mad yet,
Elizabeth
