Letter 48 - November 28th, 1888

Dear Mr. Moore,

The search party was unable to find any further sign of Taylor’s presence within the valley. Moreover, the residence of C.W. Ormiston appeared to be entirely unoccupied—and there were no signs that anyone has inhabited the house within the last fifty years. From all I have gathered, Thomas and Mable Winston were the final occupants, but they perished from an illness in December of ‘37. Their son, Cornelius, is Hemlock’s undertaker. I shall speak with him to see if he is acquainted in any way with this C.W. Ormiston. Yet most peculiar of all, my detective learned that Mr. Ormiston was the one who financed its erection back in ‘15.

Regards,
Chief McArthur
