Lost Letters
Letter 43 - July 12th, 1890
Jeffrey Randolph,
My brother was a madman, and my intentions were solely for his welfare—and the town’s for that matter. Yet since you wish to incite a melodramatic outrage among Hemlock’s citizens, I suppose I am rendered no other choice than to come to some understanding. If I grant you five acres to expand Warwick’s cemetery, you will give me the letters. I implore you now, please allow me to burn them. The past should stay buried. All that I have endured would be in vain if the truth spread. Surely you understand this? The paperwork for transferring the property will begin without delay.
Sincerely yours,
Mayor Franklin Wright
