Lost Letters
Letter 35 - October 13th, 1897
Dear Elizabeth,
There is little doubt that Warwick is a bad place. You may recollect that my nephew was put within their care for several months. If you believe the outside is formidable, you could not begin to imagine how bleak the inside truly feels. The man in charge—Mr. Randolph if I recall correctly—was not very welcoming. And the halls were poorly lit and smelled of mildew and decay. It’s of little surprise that many have died there. But the worst part of Warwick was the screaming that intruded into the lobby whenever the doors to the patient wings opened. I greatly feared that a lunatic might’ve escaped at any moment and lunged at me.
I pray you stay ever watchful,
Sarah
