When They Know You’re There
Although carrying a lantern may seem quite prudent at first, many suspect that wielding any source of light will only encourage and provoke the nightstalkers of the valley. Perhaps this is where Hemlock’s tradition of favoring travel beneath a full moon originates. Indeed, you may very well be safer moving cautiously under the cover of darkness rather than making your presence known to the vale’s unfavorable inhabitants. For some say the eyes of these creatures, being exceedingly sensitive to light, will notice any moving radiance—even from miles away. Consider this carefully throughout your journey, for one foolish decision could mean the end.
