The Winston Family Portrait
In a dusky chamber of The Spookinite House, adjacent to the antechamber, there hangs an ethereal portrait upon the wall. The wan visages of Thomas and Mable Winston, along with their little son who holds the family cat in his arms, haunt this room with their ever-vigilant eyes. It is said that a deep sorrow is felt by every inquisitive beholder. And alas, the painting was commissioned merely a month before Mr. and Mrs. Winston succumbed to their unforeseen illness. It is no doubt a tragedy that a ghostly image of their likeness has remained in the mansion longer than the subjects themselves. But such is the story of every piece of art that captures an ephemeral moment in time.
