The Haunted Spinning Wheel
On the third story of a late 18th century boarding house in Hemlock, there hides an intriguing artifact. An antique spinning wheel—having spun its last thread well over a century ago—stands in the corners of the bedchambers. Now, cobwebs hang upon it like ghostly mockeries of the threads it once created. The wheel, of which fleeting tenants often complain, will spin by itself during late hours of the night. In lamplight, occupants see the old-fashioned relic moving—the shadows of its spokes passing over the walls. Although the owners have placed the spinning wheel in different rooms, the story is always quite the same. And thus, who is to say that a spirit isn’t spinning the spiders’ delicate silk into spectral threads of his or her own?
