Fire at Warwick Hall

No one could ever forget the night of August 17th, 1887; an amber hue enveloped the evening sky, and a pillar of billowing smoke smothered the stars. Warwick Hall, along with its splendid furnishings, art, and sole occupant—the reclusive centenarian, Sir Norman Warwick—were rendered nothing more than gray, silent ashes. When the flames ceased to crackle, and the embers lost their orange glow, everyone knew the founder of the lunatic asylum had perished with all of his secrets. Although an obituary was printed, he received neither a funeral nor headstone. Notwithstanding his absent elegy, the shadowed institution Sir Warwick established would serve as an immortal monument to his legacy.
