Letter 78 - October 27th, 1897

Dearest Elizabeth,

Your descriptions are quite worrying, especially as I presently pen this. We believe, now, it is surely best you and Fredrick stay with us. And you may stay for as long as you wish, too; I assure you, Elizabeth, it isn’t a burden for me nor Spencer. We both know that unknown and undefined darknesses have lingered around Hemlock, Warwick, and the valley for well past a century—and likely farther back than the oldest gentleman in the whole of Hawthorne County can recall. Whatever you and Fredrick are witnessing seems awfully worse than nightmares or rising madness. You really ought to leave at once. I fear for your safety, Elizabeth.

Your loving and concerned,
Sarah
