Journal Entry 60 - November 14th, 1888 - Midnight [Continued]

I sighed before quietly stepping over to my door. Carefully, I opened it. And the hallway was empty. I then skulked down each step and entered the lobby. Mr. Mansfield’s absence remained. Watching for him, I made my way to the main doors. Yet before I could open them, Mansfield said from out of nowhere, “If I were you, I would reconsider going outside; for our very lives are imperiled.” I turned to face him, and the expression upon his face seemed quite earnest. Although, I could not be entirely too certain of this. “Pull the draperies apart and see for yourself,” he said. Upon doing as he instructed, I beheld a perturbing scene outside.
