Journal Entry 37 - Maple Hill Caretaker Log - June 10th, 1886

An unpleasant thunderstorm swept over last night. I locked the gates early and left as the black, brooding clouds approached from the southwest. However, as a lightning bolt struck one of the knotty maples, I once more beheld the lone figure standing upon the hill—and he was seemingly unafraid of the storm. He stared down at me. But the thunder cracked over the land and I hastened home. This morning, I found the wheelbarrow turned upside-down, with the soil spilled over the path. The winds must’ve been quite strong. However, I also found the door to the Farebrother Mausoleum broken off its hinges. And footprints in the mud went up the hill, as if someone had walked out of the vault.
