The Master Key
The keys given to guests by Mr. Mansfield will not truly lock their doors, for he possesses a master key—with which he can also lock doors from the outside. You must therefore understand that you are never safe in your room unless you obtain it. Yet the purpose for acquiring his master key is not one of safety. Rather, it is one of revelation; for it is rumored to unlock the doors to his office and study. Within these very chambers might rest the answers to countless questions and secrets. But be warned that snatching the master key is not easy. Seldom does Mr. Mansfield place it anywhere other than his waistcoat pocket. And attempting to seize the key directly from him may not end pleasantly.
