The Lost Fortune of General Edgeworth
General Edgeworth was quite revered during and after the Revolutionary War. Tragically, his carriage crashed within a precipitous ravine in the valley during an unmerciful tempest. Although his body was recovered, his prized trunk of British gold and silver, which he had seized during a battle, was never found. Many believe that in some unnamed hollow, his fortune awaits the curious and daring. Yet remain cautious, for his wraith is said to guard the treasure. Others allege that the fortune was purposefully hidden after his passing, and a map rests folded in his dead fingers. According to this legend, removing the map from his corpse may have dire consequences.
