A Disturbance at the Staddon House

Erected in 1752, the Staddon House has garnered a delightful reputation and is one of the most favorable guesthouses throughout all of New England. Although it sits on a rather peaceful tract of countryside, the home is nonetheless within less than a mile of Maple Hill. The owners and three guests once claimed that several cadaverous intruders broke through the windows and front door on the night June 18th, 1886. The trespassers vandalized furniture and attempted to abduct everyone in the home. Oddly, they were unharmed by gunshots and hastily fled before sunrise. It has remained uncertain who these individuals were and what they wanted.
