Lost Letters
Letter 84 - June 5th, 1842
My beloved William,
A secret poet? I suspected acutely that such a thoughtful gentleman could not be without imaginative aspirations of his own. I must now request, in earnest, that I receive a poem in your next reply; for I shall protect your words from being lamentably cremated. I have always admired those who can enchant one’s heart by arranging the loveliest of words! And if your letters are hints of the latent sublimity of your imagination, I am convinced that your poems will serve as ineffable proofs. I thus beseech you for even the merest verse, so that my curiosity is satiated!
Love, your patient but eager,
Abagail
