Journal Entry 73 - July 25th, 1895 – 12:02 a.m.
The gale has passed, but I’m hesitant to tread any farther in the mansion. I never meant to encroach, but I feel as though whoever resides here would not be understanding. And the more I examine the neglected furniture and fixtures from long-vanished epochs, I’m increasingly inclined to imagine the occupant is also a trespasser—though perhaps far more acquainted with this edifice. I shall be heedful of every step while I leave. However, what hesitation remains is from my fear of the valley. It’d be an arduous—and unsafe—walk to Hemlock. I wonder if the inhabitant took Wismer around to the back of the house. Were I to search there, would I find him in a stable? I cannot depart without him.
