Journal Entry 32 - [Date Not Available]
The former mayor seems quite glum. He remains within his bed nearly all day, gazing at the ceiling. Sometimes he stares at the wall without end. Whenever I ask a mere question, he says nothing. I hope they take him somewhere else. Why should he be in my cell if he cannot speak? I cannot tolerate this discourteous behavior. Sometimes he shivers in his sleep with such violence. I stare at him by his bedside for hours while he has these fits. And though I wish to scold him for his thoughtlessness, I heard he has severe melancholia; but I do not believe the rumors. I think the mayor knows what shall happen here. He is afraid. But he has no reason to be, for we will all be free after the grand insurrection.
