The Ormiston Coffin Key

It rests inside a long-lost mausoleum unmarked—
Shall you take this journey upon which few have embarked?
His name has appeared in many places once read;
Though the words ‘I have seen him’ none has ever said.

In his sepulcher, a chained coffin leans against the wall;
Only after it is unlocked and opened shall it fall.
So if you find the Ormiston Coffin Key,
You must approach the crypt cautiously.

Even so, the truth may never be certain—
As if veiled by an invisible curtain.
And who is to say this mystery shall be solved
When your reality is silently dissolved.

His unfamiliar visage glares from a white, marble bust—
Keeping vigil over a domain now collecting dust.
One might see his name in letters penned lifetimes ago;
But his face, neither portraits nor daguerreotypes show.

Whether or not he was entombed is of little importance—
‘For something sleeps inside,’ whisper unearthly portents.
And when, on twelve, rest the minute and hour hands,
You may see, on the coffin lid, something thus stands.
