Ghostly Poetry

Admonishment

The fateful time has now come,
Hear the pounding of the drum.
Ah, you fool—run not away.
How I insist!—please do stay.

You flung their dear, loving faith;
In tears, each shed his dim wraith.
Their curious spirits died,
With your many masks you lied.

Now the truth will be known to all,
And my words to you shall appall.
Your despair and dread is fitting,
I rest on your mind’s tomb, sitting.

Fleeting words shall radiate;
And vain pleas will vindicate.
My prophecy is nearing;
All may see at your hearing.

So fear these grave words and do listen;
Or the stars will no longer glisten!
