Ghostly Poetry

Admonishment

The fateful time has now come;
Hear the pounding of the drum.
Ah, you fool—run not away.
How I insist!—please do stay.

You flung their dear, loving faith;
In tears, each shed his dim wraith.
Their curious spirits died;
With your many masks you lied.

Now the truth will be known to all,
And my words to you shall appall.
Your despair and dread is fitting;
I rest on your mind’s tomb, sitting.

Fleeting words shall radiate;
And vain pleas will vindicate.
My prophecy is nearing;
All may see at your hearing.

So fear these grave words and do listen,
Or the stars will no longer glisten!
