Owl Apparition at Thornton’s Fork

A gnarled tree stands at Thornton’s Fork. Its branches are twisted and knotty—stretching out like a cadaverous hand. Travelers commonly report seeing the apparition of a shadowy owl perched upon one of the grotesque branches. The owl’s yellow eyes possess a flaming gleam that stares beyond what the living can see. According to several stories, the owl is said to have observed many events unfold throughout the valley’s long history. If asked the correct question, the owl will reveal fragments of what he has witnessed since the beginning of his existence; however, he then demands the inquisitive to answer uncomfortable truths about their own histories.
